Acne is a common chronic disorder affecting the hair follicle and sebaceous gland, in which there is expansion and blockage of the follicle and inflammation. There are several variants.

What Is The Psychological Impact of Acne?

  • Patients having moderate to severe acne may experience psychological issues due to the negative visual aspects 

  • Adolescents with acne had increased rates of suicidal ideation and mental health problems 

  • In addition to the psychological impact, acne can significantly affect an individual's self-esteem and self-image 

  • Psychological distress associated with AV includes low self-esteem, social withdrawal, stress, anxiety, depression, frustration, body shame, and family and relationship problems

  • Female patients are psychologically more affected due to AV than male patients
